The Gr.4 Trip to Camp KitchiKewana

Off to Camp Kitchi

• The gr.4 class went to Camp Kitchi on May 31st
  and didnt return until June 3rd. They left at
  930 in the morning on the bus. The bus ride over
  to Honey Harbour was about an hour long. On the
  way over to Honey Harbour we saw all these bears
  that were carved out of wood, It was cool. When
  we got to Honey Harbour we waited for about a
  half an hour before we got to go for a ride on
  the boat to Camp Kitchi. When we were riding on
  the boat we went up and down with the big waves
  pushing us up. Then we arrived at Camp
  Kitchikewana.

Arriving At Camp Kitchi

• When we first arrived at Camp Kitchi we got
• a tour around the island (Beausoleil Island)
• and we got to see the cabins that we were
• going to be staying in. After that we got to go
• to the camp fire where they told us about
• Camp Kitchi. Then we got to go to our
• cabins and unpack and get settled in. Then
• we got to meet our new (friends) cabin mates.

Cabins

• This is what some of the cabins looked like.

Activities at Camp

• Some of the activities at Camp Kitchi were
• low ropes, rock climbing, arts and crafts,
• Olympics, canoeing and kayaking, awesome
• time (swimming, free time), and hiking.

The Food at Camp Kitchi

• The food at Camp Kitchi was great. There
• was food for breakfast and we would have
• pancakes, milk/apple juice, sausages, cereal,
• bread, and bagels. For lunch we would have
• juice/water/milk, salad, noodles, soup and
• grilled cheese. For supper we would have
  noodles,
• pasta, salad, buns, sandwiches and hamburgers.
• For our Medieval feast we had chicken, mini
  pizzas,
• wedges and for dessert we had jello and whipped
  cream.
• Other desserts include fruit salad, cookies and
  cakes. The
• snacks that we got at night were rice krispie
  squares,
• Ice cream bars, cookies, and smores.

The Beach Waterfront

• This is the beach waterfront where we went
• for morning dip and awesome time.
• Awesome time is where you get to go
• swimming or do some of the activities (free
• time).

Campfire

• The first night and the last night we had
• campfires. The first night we learned tons
• of new songs. The second campfire was
• a blanket ceremony. At the blanket ceremony you
  had
• to bring a blanket. The blanket was to show if
  you had been
• to Camp before. If you haven't been to Camp
  before you
• put the blanket around your arm and if you have
  been to
• Camp before you put the blanket around your neck.

Coming Home

• Some of us wanted to stay and some
• wanted to go home. We left Kitchi at around
• 1100. Next we got onto the boat and hit the
• waves. When we got off the boat we didnt
• wait long and we were on the bus ride
• home. The bus ride was probably 45
• minutes. We got to school at around 1230.
• Next we all got to see our parents. We had a
• great time on the grade 4 Camp Kitchi trip.
