1UNIT 1 NJROTC UNIFORM REGULATIONS
2The Uniform
It is important for NJROTC cadets to maintain a
high standard of dress and personal appearance.

4With a few exceptions, uniforms worn by NJROTC
cadets are the same as those worn by active duty

6To stay sharp, you must take care of your uniform
on a daily basis.
7Uniform Of The Day
The uniform of the day is the uniform your Naval
Science Instructor (NSI) directs you to wear on
any given day.
8The uniform will be worn by all cadets at least
one full school day each week.
9The combination cap (optional for officers and
chiefs) or the garrison cap (enlisted) is a
required part of the uniform.
10Uniform for special occasions, such as field day,
shall be prescribed by your NSI. Spectator
cadets will remain in the complete NJROTC uniform.
11Personal Appearance Grooming
The appearance of all cadets should be neat,
clean, and well groomed.
12This includes hair mustaches
sideburns hair ornaments earrings/studs
fingernails cosmetics necklaces rings
watches bracelets
13Men's Hair
Shall be neat, clean, and well-groomed above the
ears and around the neck tapered upwards
3/4-inch and outwards no more than 3/4-inch no
longer than 4 inches bulk not exceeding 2 inches

Various hairstyles are permitted provided they
are groomed to fit within the guide- lines as
listed in the Cadet Field Manual.
16Male and Female Uniforms
Normally, only officers and chiefs are authorized
to wear the Service Dress Blue uniform.
17Male and Female Uniforms Exception
Enlisted members of the color guard may wear
the Service Dress Blue uniform only
when performing.
18Male Uniforms
The Working Khaki uniform may be authorized for
sea cruises, field trips, or other events
as authorized by your SNSI or NSI.
19Male Uniforms
The khaki uniform is NOT authorized as a "Uniform
Day" uniform.
20The combination cap with white cover is worn only
by chiefs and officers, and by members of the
color guard. It can be worn with the Service
Dress Blue, Winter Blue, Winter Working Blue, and
Summer Blue uniforms.
21Male Uniforms
The blue garrison cap is worn by enlisted
cadets with the service dress blue, winter
blue, winter working blue, and summer blue
uniform. It is optional at times for
officers and chiefs.
22Male Uniforms
The khaki garrison cap or unit ball cap will be
worn with the Working Khaki uniform by
all personnel.
23Plain white crew-neck or V-neck tee shirts shall
be worn with all uniforms.
24Male Uniforms
Unit ball caps are authorized with the male
Winter Working Blue and Working Khaki uniforms as
an optional item. They can be of unit design,
but in good taste. School colors are authorized.
25Female Uniforms
Hosiery shall be made of nylon, and similar in
color to the tone of the skin. When slacks
are worn, black plain knit or rib knit socks will
be worn in lieu of hosiery.
26Female Uniforms
Shoes shall be Navy-style plain black-laced
leather oxfords. The entire shoe should be
kept well-shined.
27Female Uniforms
Plain black dress pumps may be worn as an
optional item with the dress uniform, but
only for those female cadets enrolled in Naval
Science 2 and above.
28Unit ball caps are also authorized on the
following female uniforms as an optional item
