Progress Since Last Presentation

• Further analysis of geometry of concepts to
  determine if the proposed concepts can fit in the
  space provided.
• Mathematical analysis of the concepts to
  determine if we can satisfy the customer
  specifications.
• ProE drawings of the general layout and assembly
  of the concepts.

Concept 1,2,3

• These concepts have generally the same operating
  characteristics, as they all have spring loaded
  protrusions that must compress when the overload
  torque limit is reached.
• Mathematical analysis of the concepts is so far
  very similar for all cases. Presently the spring
  constant values we have found for these concepts
  are extremely high. We continue to analyze the
  concepts and our mathematical methods.

Concept 4

• This concept has been the most difficult concept
  to analyze so far due to the angles involved in
  the geometry of the mechanism.
• It is hoped that we can successfully model the
  concept and to determine a suitable spring
  constant which will satisfy the specifications of
  the design.
• An attempt to perform an analysis using Working
  Model 3D and Mathematica is also being considered
  to simplify the understanding of the forces
  involved with the design.

• Provide convincing evidence whether the concepts
  are or are not feasible.
• Consult with client to determine if any concepts
  which appear feasible meet his approval.
• Confirm tasks to accomplish next semester.
