OBJECTS OF COUNCIL

• The objects of the council shall be to regulate
  the occupations of fresh produce, exports and
  livestock agents
• To maintain and enhance the status and dignity of
  persons practicing those occupations

MAIN FEATURES OF THE BILL

• The amendment extend the jurisdiction of the
  council to include export agents.
• The livestock agents are exempted from keeping
  trust accounts and belonging to the Fidelity
  fund.
• The definition of agents includes persons working
  for principals.
• Inclusion of two persons in the council to
  represent consumers.
• Upon the commencement of the Act the Minister
  shall appoint the two persons to the council
  with the hope of addressing representivity
  issues.
• The chairperson of the council will be appointed
  by the Minister and the Registrar will be
  appointed by the council after consultation with
  the Minister.
• The powers of the disciplinary tribunal have been
  strengthened.

FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS

• R45 000 for publication in the Government Gazette.

• Institute of Market Masters in S.A
• S.A Federation of livestock auctioneers,and
