Preparations for the 35th ICAO Assembly

• In the light of outcome of CAEP/6, it is
  anticipated that the ICAO Secretariat would
• be submitting, through the Council, to the
  Assembly proposals for amending/ updating the
  current Resolution A33-7 on the continuing ICAO
  policies and practices related to environmental
  protection. Therefore suggested that ECAC
  paper(s) be prepared as to present its Member
  States positions on these amendments and related
  topics they are likely to cover

• On a preliminary basis, topics in question have
  been identified as follows
• NOx stringency
• Further progress on the knowledge related to the
  impact of aviation emissions
• Guidance material for implementation of the
  balanced approach for the noise
• management

• - Importance of the cooperation with other UN
  bodies (UNFCC, IPCC, UNEP)
• - Further work on supersonic aircraft and the
  necessity to address noise and emissions
• - Market based measures (all three aspects
  voluntary agreements, trading and charging)

• In relation to Market based measures (all three
  aspects voluntary agreements, trading and
  charging) Directors General may wish to consider
  to have regard to policies taken and statements
  made by ECAC States either individually or, as EU
  members, collectively
