Who is Bajram Rexhepi

• Born on 3 June 1954 in the town of Mitrovica
• Graduated from the Pristina University Faculty of
  Medicine in 1979
• Worked as a general surgeon and endoscopic
  specialist at the regional hospital in Mitrovica
  until 1990.

• Subsequently, became the leader of the shadow
  government in the city and a member of the Kosovo
  Parliament.
• During the 1999 conflict with Serbia joined the
  Kosovo Liberation Army
• On 4 March 2002 was elected the first prime
  minister of Kosovo

Present status of Kosovo

• NATO countries have divided Kosovo into five
  troop sectors, which they will control

• Kosovo has acquired a considerable degree of
  self-government under a United Nations
  administration, known as UNMIK, while formally
  remaining part of Serbia and Montenegro.
