OUTLINE
  • OBJECTIVE
  • INTRODUCTION
  • DELIVERABLES ON IMT- ADVANCED
  • POSITION REACHED/INDICATED
  • KYOTO MEETING OUTCOME
  • CL AND IMT TECH HIGHLIGHT
  • GENEVA MEETING
  • NEXT STEP

3
OBJECTIVE
  • PREPARATIONS FOR IMT-ADVANCED DISCUSSIONS AT
    ITU-R WP8F
  • OBJECTIVE To ensure the position Administration
combined with Industry forces on IMT-Advanced
is reflected at maximum in all documentation
prepared by ITU-R WP8F, and the final position
adopted by ITU on IMT-A is sufficiently in line
with the outlined position, by actively
    participating, communicating and making relevant
contributions to WP8F and relevant channels.

4
TG assignments and working approaches
  • A significant part of the preparation for IMT-A
    relate to identifying possible technical
    characteristics of IMT-Advanced systems.
  • ITU TG China/ CCHDZ should liaise closely with
other relevant groups within and outside
China/CCHDZ such as the LTE and LTE TG from
3GPP project and 16m from IEEE
  • TG forces initiate collaboration with external
primary standards bodies and industrial alliance,
home and regional fora to ensure consistent
understanding/message and whole picture of the
potential proponents of IMT-A, in attempt of
mapping out the near and long term planning and
    strategy.
  • Email CG, f-2-f meeting, and conference call at
    regular basis
  • the preparatory work of the ITU TG China/CCHDZ
should be done in collaboration with other groups
    associated with activities initiated respectively
    or aligned collectively.
  • For instance, the preparations on IMT-A within
China could be influenced via the ALIGNED
    efforts, internally and externally.

5

    interface technologies for IMT-A
  • IMT TECH on requirements related to technical
system performance for IMT-A radio interfaces
  • Circular Letter CF deadline proposed 30 Sept
  • (Main body, Annexes 2,6,8,9)
  • IMT TECH CF deadline
    proposed 11 Nov
  • Comments tight schedule for CL finalization

9
IMT TECH and CL Annex
  • CL on IMT-Advanced
  • IMT.TECH Outlook
  • Relationship between IMT.TECH and CL
  • Existing Structure and some points
  • Further work

10
CL Structure
  • Main Body
  • Annex 2 Submission and evaluation process and
    consensus building
  • Annex 6 Submission guidelines template for
    details of submission
  • Annex 8 Relevant ITU-R Recommendations, Reports
    and others
  • Annex 9 IPR policy
  • Note The above Annexes have been addressed by
CL Ad Hoc. To be refined by CF prior to 23
    Geneva .
  • Annex 1 Background on IMT-Advanced/ Main body
    relationship?
  • Annex 3 Requirements related to service
    capabilities
  • Annex 4 Requirements related to technical system
    performance
  • Annex 5 Spectrum related requirements
  • Annex 7 Evaluation guidelines and test models
  • Note At present, Annex 4 as equivalent part
abstracted from IMT TECH is highlighted by
    interested parties in discussion.

11
IMT TECH and CL Annex
  • IMT TECH on IMT-A Technical Requirements
  • and corresponding Annex in CL Circular Letter
  • Objective orientation The Recommendation
provides, for proponents and developers of RTTs,
the common bases for the submission and
evaluation of RTTs and system aspects impacting
    the radio performance.
  • Principle understanding IMT TECH will define the
minimum requirements of the proponents to impact
the radio transmission performance and the
    technological characteristics should be reflected
by the proponents in IMT TECH, however, needless
    to be in detail.

12
IMT TECH Outlook
  • IMT.TECH on requirements related to technical
system performance for IMT-A radio interfaces,
the existing file includes the following
    chapters
  • Introduction
  • Scope and purpose
  • Related documents
  • Minimum requirements
  • Technological items required to describe
    candidate Air Interface
  • Required technology criteria for evaluation
  • Conclusions
  • Terminology, abbreviations
  • Appendices

13
IMT TECH status in 22 Kyoto
  • Key chapters
  • chapter 4 on Minimum requirements
  • Baseline for CL Annex 4 created
  • All numbers in square brackets
  • Chapter 5 on Technological items to describe air
    interface
  • sub-sections created
  • text mixture with contribution from different
    parties/3GPP and IEEE
  • Chapter 6 on Required technology items for
    evaluation
  • minimum requirements included
  • Other items outlined but further refinement
    required
  • Text mixture contributed by different parties,
    streamline work required
  • Issues in Question
  • Q1 The benchmark in the selection of the
technical characteristics in Chapter 5, the depth
    of the given description
  • Q2 The other items outlined as required
technology items for Evaluation the relationship
between this chapter and IMT EVAL
  • Q3 As our understanding the Equivalent file for
IMT-A in corresponding role with M.1225 for
IMT-2000 should be mainly from the combination of
IMT TECH and IMT EVAL as well as Annex 2

14
IMT.TECH and CL
  • Corresponding relationship between IMT.TECH and
    CL
  • IMT.TECH chapter 4 (consolidated or concise
version) to be CL Annex 4 /and 6?
  • IMT.TECH chapter 5 (sources and reflection)to be
part of CL Annex 4 and 6?
  • IMT.TECH chapter 6 ( some outlined points input)
to be part of IMT EVAL/ CL Annex 7
  • Outlined points should be addressed in detail in
IMT.EVAL and counterpart in CL Annex 7
Corresponding relationship with IMT EVAL should
be stringent or loose? Or alternatively delete
    this part in IMT TECH?
  • IMT TECH chapter 3 to be part of CL Annex 8

15
IMT TECH
  • Details in concern
  • 1)Minimum Requirements items in discussion. Such
as Cell spectral efficiency , Peak data rate,
    Latency, Mobility, Handover

  • On discussion by interested parties on the
    chapter outline and scope
  • Role play
    complementary to Chapter4 no detailed
    description on proponents technology solutions
but incorporate the general guideline in the
    proponents submission
  • 3) Required technology criteria for evaluation
