Title: The
1The
RED ADMIRAL
BUTTERFLY
by Mrs. Headley
GLUTTONS FOR PUNISHMENT? Why live in
North American forests if you don't like the
cold?

DIET
(SAMPLE SLIDE)
Leaking sap from trees
Bird droppings
Flowers only when necessary.
The red admiral butterfly will feed from only a
few sources. It will suck the sap dripping from
trees. This butterfly has also been known to
feed on birds droppings as part of their main
diet. However, only the caterpillar of this
butterfly really feeds on plants and flowers. If
faced with a lack of food, then the red admiral
butterfly will feed on plants such as alfalfa,
milkweed, and red clover.
3YOUR MISSION
- Begin creating a Power Point presentation of a
North American woodland creature. - Research it and use the information IN YOUR OWN
WORDS to make the following slides - 1. An introductory slide. Give the specific
name of your creature, as well as your names.
Then leave us with a teaser to get us
interested in your creature! - 2. A slide on the geography and habitat of
your creature. Geography means Where can it
be found in the United States? Habitat means
Does it build a nest? Does it burrow?
Basically where does it sleep at night (or
during the day, for that matter!) - 3. A final slide of interesting other facts
about your creature. Does it have strange
habits? Does it have enemies we would not have
thought of? What makes your creature unique?
What sounds does it make? What does it do when
it becomes distressed?
