Components of global STOP TB strategy

• 1. Pursue quality DOTS expansion and enhancement

• The major areas of intervention at the regional
  level to support MDR management are
• Policy guidance and documents to support
  countries in the implementation of MDR management
  sites based both on global and country
  experience.
• Promote partnership and coordination to
  strengthen the regional SNRL network, exchange
  experience and address financial and technical
  resources gap.
• Human resources development through building
  consultancy team , training of trainers, WHO
  staffing
• Country support in terms of logistical, technical
  support.
• ME

The main sub components of MDR management -
regional strategic plan 2008-2015

• Lab (Regional strategic plan for TB lab, SNRL
  network, consultancy team, Lab training plus
  training materials, Monitoring missions).
• Infrastructure (operational standards mainly for
  hospitalization).
• HRD (training materials, TOT, staffing).
• Drugs and other logistics (GLC proposals, support
  countries for Lab ES procurement).
• Infection control (Guidance, training, TA and
  monitoring).
• Recording and reporting Promote high quality RR
  (integration with TB RR, E-RR, quality
  verification, regular reporting, data analysis,
  feed back, indicators for ME)

Planned outcome

• By 2015 All lab network in EMR countries has
  EQA, culture and DST, NRL and link to SNRL,
  strategy to integrate lab within the national
  health system.
• By 2015 All MDR cases are identified and
  properly managed
