CYCLONE
  • A symbolic graphic format for simulation of
    construction processes
  • Three basic modeling shapes
  • Active state (square node represents a work task)
  • Idle State (circle represents a delay or waiting
    position for a resource entity)
  • Directional Flow (arc represents the path of a
resource entity as it moves between idle and
    active states)

3
CYCLONE Active State Modeling Element (1)
  • NORMAL Work task unconstrained in its
starting logic and indicates active processing of
    (or by) resource entities

4

NORMAL
5
CYCLONE Active State Modeling Element (2)
  • COMBI Constrained work task which is
logically constrained in its starting logic,
    otherwise similar to NORMAL

COMBI
7
CYCLONE Idle State Modeling Element
  • Q NODE The idle state of a resource entity
symbolically represent a queuing up or waiting
for use passive state of resources

  • ARROW
  • Original CYCLONE Modeling Element
  • Simphony Connection between the elements

10
Supplementary Modeling Elements in CYCLONE
  • GENERATE Units can be generated (as required
during the process) at QUEUE nodes
  • CONSOLIDATE Aggregate units
  • COUNTER Count the number of entities passing
  • BRANCH Probability branching (Only in Simphony
    version)

CYCLONE NORMAL
Resource Entity Arrival
Resource Entity Departure
  • No QUEUE before NORMAL
  • Several entities can traverse it simultaneously
  • If more than one resource type is connected,
work task can be processed by either resource.

CYCLONE COMBI
All three resourcesare required
Resource entities departure
  • All resources are required to process the work
    task

20
CYCLONE QUEUE
Resource entities released sequentially to a
following COMBI node when the COMBI ingredience
logic is satisfied
Resourcesarriving andentering anidle state
  • QUEUE nodes always precede COMBI nodes
