Safety
  • We have a responsibility to keep you safe at
    work.
  • So do you! You must

    feel is a Hazard

Emergency Contact Numbers
  • Listed in your Induction Handbook
  • Displayed on Notice Boards
  • If a serious emergency, call 000 and ask for
    Fire, Police or Ambulance

What To Do If Fire Occurs
  • As soon as fire is detected
  • Raise the alarm
  • Assess the situation
  • Try to control fire using fire fighting equipment
    but do not place your own life at risk
  • If there is no immediate danger remain at your
    workplace
  • Your supervisor will order evacuation if necessary

Emergency Evacuation
  • On Hearing Alarm
  • Cease work immediately
  • Await Instructions from Supervisor
  • If ordered to evacuate, do so calmly, dont run
  • Proceed to the Assembly Area
  • Do not leave Assembly Area until directed
  • Return to work only when instructed by your
    Supervisor

Minor Injuries
  • All injuries to be reported - no matter how minor
  • Obtain treatment promptly
  • All Farms have qualified First Aid staff
  • Ensure injury and treatment are recorded by First
    Aid staff

Major Injuries
  • Check that there is no further danger
  • Call or send for assistance
  • Make injured person comfortable
  • Do not move seriously injured casualty unless
    there is no alternative
  • Wait with the casualty until help arrives

Injury Requiring Treatment Off-Site
  • You must inform your supervisor before leaving
    the site
  • Medical Certificates must be given to your
    supervisor as soon as possible

Reporting of Incidents/Hazards
  • All dangerous occurrences (including near miss
    incidents) hazards must be reported to your
    Supervisor immediately.
  • This is the first step in the Accident Prevention
    Process and your prompt action can help us
    achieve our goal of
  • Zero Accidents!

Personal Protective Equipment
  • Can include
  • Eye protection (Safety Glasses)
  • Hand protection (Gloves)
  • Hearing protection (Ear Defenders)
  • Foot protection (Boots)
  • Head protection (Hard Hat, Sun Hat)
  • Respiratory protection
  • High visibility safety shirts
  • Safety harnesses
  • UV Skin protection

Personal Protective Equipment
  • If we issue it to you, you must use it
  • If you are unsure how to use it, ask your
    Supervisor
  • Ensure that it fits you correctly
  • Look after PPE, report any faults
  • Observe PPE safety signs

Chemicals
  • Your work may require you to come into contact
    with chemicals.
  • Be aware of the hazards associated with the
    chemical you are about to use.
  • Know where to find, how to read, understand and
    follow the Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) for
    that chemical.
  • Wear the appropriate PPE.
  • Understand the procedures associated with any
    chemical emergency.
  • If in doubt, Ask your Supervisor

Working in Hot Humid Climates
  • Slip, Slap, Slop Wear a Sunscreen
  • Long Sleeves
  • Sun Hat
  • Hydration
  • Working outdoors and/or in hot conditions causes
    us to sweat.
  • What you lose in sweat you must replace.
  • Fluid intake must start at least 1 hour before
    starting work and continue with at least 375ml
    every half hour.
  • Drinking water is the best way to stay hydrated
  • Stay Ahead With Your Fluid Intake
  • And Start Early

Manual Handling
  • Be certain each load is within your lifting
    capacity and will not obstruct your line of
    vision.
  • Check that your route and set down area are free
    of hazards and are adequately lit.
  • Obtain a good footing and maintain a straight
    back posture.
  • Grip the object firmly, using the palms of your
    hands and the roots of your fingers.
  • Bend at the knees.
  • Lift gradually by straightening the legs.
  • If you cant move it safely comfortably, get
    help

Company Vehicles
  • Not permitted to use Company vehicles until
    assessed as competent
  • Must hold appropriate license as required by
    Australian law (or International equivalent)
  • Vehicles may only be operated within the limits
    of their design
  • Passengers may only be carried within the limits
    of the vehicle design (i.e. no passengers in Ute
    Trays!)
  • Always carry out Pre-Start Up Post Use Checks

Good Housekeeping
  • A tidy workplace is a safe workplace
  • Clean facilities are hygienic facilities
  • Keep your work area free of clutter
  • Keep your equipment clean and organized
  • If you notice unclean or untidy work areas or
    work practices report them as hazards to your
    supervisor

Health Hygiene
  • Remember you are handling Food
  • Hand Washing Discipline
  • Prior to and after eating
  • Prior to and after drinking
  • Prior to and after smoking
  • Prior to and after answering phones or using
    radios
  • After coughing/sneezing
  • After using the toilet

Health Hygiene
  • No loose fitting clothing to be worn
  • Long hair to be tied up
  • Hair Nets to be worn in Pack Sheds
  • Jewelry Wedding Bands Ear Studs Only
  • No Glass permitted within Pack Shed or Fruit
    Store
  • Short clean fingernails
  • Avoid touching your nose, eyes or mouth
  • Move away from all fruit before sneezing or
    coughing
  • Use a disposable tissue when sneezing, dispose of
    the tissue appropriately and wash your hands at a
    designated area
  • Do not report for work if sick (call in via
    phone).
  • Following any period of sickness check first with
    Supervisor before returning to work.
  • Do not provoke wildlife!

No Smoking Policy
  • Smoking only permitted in designated areas
  • Not permitted in Company Vehicles

Drugs Alcohol Policy
  • We have a strict Policy prohibiting the presence
    of, consumption of, being under the influence
    of/and or use of any alcohol or drugs during
    working hours
  • All Oolloo Sites are alcohol and drug free

Bullying Harassment Policy
  • Bullying harassment, including sexual
    harassment, is unacceptable
  • Any employee found to have committed or condoned
    such behavior will be subject to the disciplinary
    process which may lead to dismissal
