Project lessons

• Impact of project staff involvement being
  voluntary people have day jobs
• Balancing meetings against work
• It takes time to understand what you are actually
  doing
• Project scope WILL change be willing/flexible/re
  sponsive/proactive and LEARN
• Success will make change in the project
  inevitable!
• Pinch Points Interoperate
• Stealing is good!

People/Partner Lessons

• People have their own jobs and priorities your
  project isnt the main thing to them
• Face to face very important
• Consult/dialogue rather than disseminate
  engage stakeholders
• Cant be an island
• Constant reinforcement of message they will
  make their own interpretation anyway!
• Who are the RIGHT contacts?

Organisational Lessons

• Need organisational commitment
• Pulling departments/service together needs an
  agent
• Instutions have corporate interests/processes
  which will get in the way Institutions are NOT
  organisationally learner centred
• Management based on conventional processes is
  usually inappropriate

Cultural and other Differences Issues

• Huge FE/HE differences work patterns/contacts/vo
  cabulary/support
• HE in FE is a small part of the business
  whats the incentive to get involved/adopt
  alien processes etc
• FE systems not joined up
• Cultural differences cross-partner and
  cross-national vocabulary etc

Other issues

• PDP elusive
• Need a common PDR to justify transfer
• Not much e pdr to transfer
• There ARE processes already in place that can be
  built on
• Learners will do things differently than
  developers plan!
• Academics resist embedding PDP in TL
• Suppliers can be a pain to engage
• on
