Title: Programming and Evaluation
1Programming and Evaluation
- Facilitated by
- Dave Lohrmann and Jim ONeil (aka Data Man)
2By the end of this session, learners will be able
to
- Explain the progression of CSHP implementation
- Recall the primary focus of Michiana as systemic
change for sustainable CSHP - Distinguish between two branches of evaluation
- Review their teams progress to date and
determine next steps.

5Evaluation Concepts
- Evaluation is the act of placing a value,
positive or negative, on something. - A less than full positive value implies that
- the object of the evaluation can be
- improved through some change.
- The responsibility of the evaluator is to be an
agent of change working to improve a program in
the many ways identified by evaluation results - From Windsor, R., Baranowski, T., Clark, N., and
Cutter, G. (1994). Evaluation of health
promotion, health education, and disease
prevention programs. Mountain View, CA Mayfield
publishing Co., p. 29.
6Two Branches of Evaluation
- 1. CSHP (HSRC Characteristics 1-2)
- A. Coordination, including essential structures
AND - Policy, Planning
- and Evaluation
2. Separate aspects (HSRC Characteristics
3-11) A. CSHP characteristics OR B. Health
issues across components/characteristics

11Use Results(pp. 125-127)
- Develop a plan
- based on prioritized recommendations
- Use planning charts
- Implement over time
- Track progress
