  • The Painted Turtle has a smooth shell.
  • it can grow to be about 250 mm long.

Habitat of the Painted Turtle
  • Painted turtles like living in fresh water.
  • In may, a Painted turtle moves to a warmer
    habitat.
  • A Painted turtle likes quiet and shallow ponds,
    marshes, bogs and slow moving streams.
  • Although most painted turtles live in fresh
    water, there are some reports of finding them in
    unclear water.

Food Chain
  • A Painted Turtles predators are skunk,
    Raccoon, and coyote.
  • Painted Turtles will quickly dive when they first
    see or hear danger.
  • Painted Turtles eat plants and small animals like
    fish, crustaceans, and insects.
  • A Painted Turtles food stays the same during the
    year except for the winter when they do not eat
    (if theyre hibernating).

Life Cycle
  • Female Painted Turtles live longer than males do.
  • The female Painted Turtle will search for a place
    to nest on land in June or July.
  • Painted turtles become an adult at different
    times. Male turtles become mature at 3-5 years,
    and females take about 6-10 years.
  • Painted Turtles could live up to 35-40 years.
