• What is FBLA?
• Future Business Leaders of America is a nonprofit
  education association of students preparing for
  careers in business and business-related fields.

• The mission of FBLA is to bring business and
  education together in a positive working
  relationship through innovative leadership and
  career development programs.

• FBLA is headquartered in Reston, Virginia
• It is organized on the local, state and national
  levels
• Business teachers/advisers and advisory councils
  guide local chapters

The History of FBLA . . .

• The concept of FBLA was established by Dr. Hamden
  Forkner of Columbia University in 1937.
• The first high school FBLA chapter was chartered
  in Johnson City, Tennessee in 1942
• The first Virginia high school FBLA chapter was
  at Spotsylvania High School in 1942.

Membership in FBLA

• All business students are members at the local
  chapter level
• State, regional, and national membership requires
  the payment of state and national FBLA dueswhich
  is normally 10 or less annually.
• Honorary membershipextended to teachers,
  principals, businesspersons, etc.
• Honorary Life membership-extended to persons
  making significant contributions to the growth
  and development of FBLA.
