• DEFINE the fundamentals of radiation, radioactive
  material, ionization, and contamination.
• DESCRIBE the indicators, signs, and symptoms of
  exposure to radiation.

• RECOGNIZE the presence of radiological materials
  from radiological postings (colors and symbols),
  container shapes/types, or unusual signs that may
  indicate the threat of a radiological incident,
  and appropriately COMMUNICATE the need for
  additional resources during a radiological

Awareness Level

• Generally, all actions by these personnel are
  conducted from within the cold zone
  (uncontaminated areas).
• If in the warm or hot zone
• Move from that zone
• Encourage others to move to a staging area away
  from threat
• Minimize further contamination

Remember Awareness-Level training does NOT
qualify you to

• Perform decontamination
• Operate radiation detectors
• Take offensive actions in a contaminated WMD
  environment
