What is IDP?

• A process through which municipalities prepare a
  5 -year strategic development plan
• A product ( the Integrated Development Plan)
  which serves as a principle strategic management
  instrument for a municipality

Legal Status

• IDP is a legal requirement of the Municipal
  Systems Act 2000
• The Integrated Development Plan has a legal
  status (especially with regard to land use) and
  supercedes all other plans that guide development
  at local level
