  • Improve access to existing and proposed
development on east side of Danville
  • Prevent future congestion at Lynch Road

23
Other Project Considerations
  • Beltline would open up more opportunities to
communities to the north of Danville, like
    Rossville and Hoopestown
  • In a no-build situation, traffic along the north
end of IL 1 would increase by about 20

27
Questions?
28
Why do we need a beltline?
  • Available land for further industrial growth
is east of Griffin Street and to the north and
south of I-74. Existing infrastructure is not in
place to serve industrial needs in these areas.
Without infrastructure in place, or at least
ready to build, industry will not develop.

29
What about Lynch Road?
30
Lynch Road Issues
  • Lynch Road would need to be widened to
accommodate future traffic which would likely
result in eliminating some of the direct access
industries now have to Lynch Road north of U.S.
    136 (Main Street).
  • More traffic would be concentrated at the Lynch
Road interchange, resulting in future congestion
of the interchange. A complete re-construction
of the interchange would be necessary to
    accommodate future traffic demands.
