• Problem faced by a character
• Struggle between two opposing forces
• Struggle with another character
• Struggle with a force of nature
• The problem or conflict that prevents him or her
  from achieving the goal.
• Ask yourself, Whats keeping the character from
  getting what he or she wants?

External Conflict

• A character struggles with against another
  person, group of people, or a force of nature
  (tornado, icy mountain path)

Internal Conflict

• struggle that takes place in a characters mind
• Shyness, accepting a death, telling a secret
