2Introduction
- Talk divided into three parts
- S5 Online BNS Analysis
- S5 First Epoch BNS search
- Start of run (11/4/05) to start of LHO
commissioning (02/06/06) - Standard 1 - 3 Msun 2pN inspiral templates
- Full search pipeline (filter, signal based
vetoes, coincidence) - S5 First Epoch BBH search
- Start of run (11/4/05) to start of LHO
commissioning (02/06/06) - 3 - 30 Msun 2pN inspiral templates
- Full search pipeline (filter, signal based
vetoes, coincidence)
3S5 Online BNS Analysis
- Runs with latency 20 mins at LHO and LLO
- Results displayed in control room via InspiralMon
- Glitch Pages
- Display top 10 loudest single IFO triggers with
SNR gt 25 - Scimons encouraged to look at glitches with no
current DQ explanation - Experts encouraged to create DQ flags for
glitches that are obvious but are not currently
flagged - ASI_CORR_OVERFLOW was created in this way
4S5 First Epoch BNS Analysis
- Distance to optimally oriented 1.4,1.4 solar mass
BNS at ? 8
First S5 Epoch Nov 4, 2005 - Feb 6, 2006
5BNS Parameter Accuracy
- Mchirp accuracy 0.01 Msun
- Eta accuracy 0.1
- End time accuracy 5 ms
6BNS Accidental Coincidencesand Simulated Signals
- Tune pipeline using background, playground (10
of data) and injections - Measure background by applying time slides before
coincidence - Add simulated signals to detector data to
evaluate analysis performance
7BNS Vetoes
- Two types of Vetoes are used to eliminate time
slides - Data Quality Vetoes (e.g. MASTER_OVERFLOW_LSC,
PRE_LOCKLOSS_120_SEC, etc.) - Signal-Based Vetoes (e.g. Chi-squared and
R-squared vetoes)
- All vetoed injections above coincide with
glitches.
8BNS Coincident Triggers Veto Hardware
Injections
- Double coincident H1L1 time slide triggers from
double and triple coincident time
9BNS Coincident Triggers also use Category 2
3 Vetoes
- Double coincident H1L1 time slide triggers from
double and triple coincident time
10BNS Coincident Triggers also use R-square Veto
- Double coincident H1L1 time slide triggers from
double and triple coincident time
11Histogram of Luminosity
- The galaxy catalog has been extended to 100 Mpc
- only complete to 25 Mpc
- we are now sensitive to those distances
12S5 Epoch 1 BNS Plans
- Finish final tuning of vetoes before opening box
- Total time in triple coincident data 0.1 years
- The total luminosity 300 L10 190 MWEG
- R90 0.08 yr-1 L10-1 0.13 yr-1 MWEG-1
- But would not quote this number outside this
room - Efficiency computed at threshold, not loudest
event (limit will go up) - Error estimates not included (limit will go up)
- No consideration of background, etc.
- Not reviewed!
13S5 First Epoch BBH Analysis
- Distance to optimally oriented equal mass
binaries at ? 8
14BBH Parameter Accuracy
- Mchirp accuracy 5 Msun
- Eta accuracy 0.15
- End time accuracy 20 ms
15BBH Chi-squared Veto
- Minimal loss in efficiency due to Chi-squared
veto for all injection runs - EOB
- PadeT1
- TaylorT1
- TaylorT3
16BBH Slides before Chi-squared
- Double coincident time slide triggers from HXL1
in triple coincident time
17BBH Slides after Chi-squared
- Double coincident time slide triggers from HXL1
in triple coincident time
18BBH Accidental Coincidencesand Simulated Signals
- Tune pipeline using background, playground (10
of data) and injections - Measure background by applying time slides before
coincidence - Add simulated signals to detector data to
evaluate analysis performance
19S5 Epoch 1 BBH Plans
- Finishing final tuning of vetoes
- Finishing looking at missed nearby injections
20Future for S5
- Complete S5 first epoch BNS upper limit (or
detection?) for approval at November LSC meeting - Setting up automated code to analyze data for BNS
weekly for a detection/no detection statement - BNS final upper limit from 1 yr of S5 data
planned to be completed for Feb. 2007
21The End
22Efficiency in Triple Coincident Data
23Efficiency in Triple Coincident Data
These are injections found as H1H2 double
coincidence, but which have a large effective
distance in LLO (due to detector misalignment)
Apparent structure here due to low number
statistics
