• Stable accommodation can make a difference of
  OVER 20 in terms of reduction of reconviction.
• One third of prisoners lose their housing due to
  imprisonment.
• Three quarters of people leaving prison rely on
  rented accommodation.

• No treatment centres detoxify people until
  accommodation is stable or move on accommodation
  is arranged.
• One third of homeless drug users are hospitalised
  in the first year of rough sleeping.
• Homeless drug users are four times more likely to
  suffer mental health problem than Drug users with
  stable accommodation.

Rent Deposit Scheme(CRDM)

• Funded from the DIP programme Team at the Home
  Office.
• Targets DIP/POU clients leaving prison.
• Works only with Private sector Landlords.
• Is run form Bristol City Council Housing
  Department.

• Low numbers of Referrals from Prisons.
• Housing benefit claims not always being processed
  on time.
• More availability of shared houses than
  originally thought.
