History of NIR-Online

• February 2003 Joint Network Rail and ATOC
  submission to change GE/RT8250 to mandate a
  web-based system.
• May 2004 Formation of NIR User Group.
• July 2005 RSSB grant authority to proceed.
• August 2005 Software Development contract
  awarded to Interfleet Technology Ltd.
• September 2005 - Ongoing Software development.
• Sunday 26th February 2006 NIR-Online launch.

• Historically distribution could take 12 hours by
  fax.
• Laborious process chasing acknowledgements.
• Difficult to maintain audit trails.
• Limited ability to deliver safety related
  information quickly.

How Does It Affect Me?

• No changes to the NIR process (just the method),
  however GE/RT8250 (not 3350) will be updated to
  reflect the implementation of NIR-Online.
• We know who formally receives NIRs from the NCC
  and we have already contacted them.
• We have already asked each company to tell us
  which NIRs are closed (for your company).
• We need to know who else needs access
