John B. Watson (1878-1958)

• His early career was devoted to the study of
  animal psychology.
• Watson was the first major psychologist to adopt
  Lockes belief that human behavior can be
  understood principally in terms of experience and
  learning.
• First to use the term behaviorism.

How People Learn People learn through operant conditioning or through experience. Learning takes place when information is obtained through our senses, interpreted, stored, and used. Learning occurs through the accommodation or assimilation of experiences and schemas.
