    element of one of their existing Science Units

  • Each teacher will sign up for the six weeks they
    want and the unit they want to use

  • We are trying to improve our teaching of Science
    Vocabulary by increasing our technology
    integration.
  • Its a goal in our CIP.

Using Technology For Drill and Practice Skills
Can Be Highly Effective!
  • Using educational technology for drill and
    practice of basic skills can be highly effective
    according to a large body of data and a long
    history of use (Kulik, 1994).

Kids Learn More and Learn Faster
  • Students usually learn more, and learn more
    rapidly, in courses that use computer assisted
    instruction (CAI). Source Kosakowski, J. (1998).

Its True Across Subject Areas and Special
Population Groups
  • Studies reveal
  • that students feel more successful in school
  • are more motivated to learn
  • have increased self confidence and self esteem
    when using CAI. This is particularly true when
    the technology allows the students to control
    their own learning.
  • It's also true across a variety of subject areas,
    and is especially noteworthy when students are in
    at-risk groups (special education, students from

  • Take a unit you already do and add technology in.

You can choose your level of integration
according to your grade level.
Once a six weeks their will be a training in the
lab to help you do this. Linda will help you as
much or as little as you want her to.
