• The Lincoln Parish GIS Commission was created in
  1993 with the development of an Enhanced 911
  program under the direction of the Communications
  District
• The members are

• Clerk of Court (Joined in 1998)

• Sheriff

• Allows the governing authority of Lincoln Parish
  to create a GIS District
• Initially comprised of 7 members
• Assessor
• Police Jury

• Normal powers of a political subdivision
• Power to request a property or sales tax from the
  voters
• Ability to add up to four additional members in
  the future

• Data is jointly stored in an ArcSDE geodatabase
• Online maps are hosted onsite using ArcGIS Server
  .NET Web Application
• ArcReader connecting to ArcSDE for non-power
  users
• ArcReader maps for mobile users
• Hardware and software is shared between Parish
  agencies and the City of Ruston
