  • Designed to plan, integrate and fund local health

    the organization, coordination and funding of
    health services will be made closer to home by
    people who live and work in the LHIN

  • Allocate funds to service within a locally
    defined responsive health system

Whats new since April 1, 2007?
  • LHINs have taken on responsibility for planning,
    funding and integrating health services in our
    area
  • Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care will be
    less involved in delivery of health care but will
    provide overall direction and leadership for the
    system
  • Providers will negotiate their funding agreements
    with LHINs instead of with the Ministry of Health
    and Long Term Care
  • Providers will resolve issues and challenges
    directly with LHINs
  • Evolutionary changes as opposed to revolutionary
