• The NAPC with the support of the FAO project
  GCP/SYR/006/ITA has produced the Syrian Agr.
  database 2004.
• The database comprises time-series data from
  official secondary sources (statistics of various
  Departments and Ministries of SAR).
• Structured by using the spreadsheet facilities
  offered by MS-Excel.

• Arranged in a user friendly interface of the kind
  of FAOSTAT standards,
• Available on the Intranet network of the center,
• Hosted on the Internet at FAO website.
• Also the SADB 2004 is available on CD Rom

Pertaining the SAD 2004 the following main
activities were performed

• Database 2004 Updated agricultural data for
  years 2002-2003 and agricultural trade data for
  years 1995-2001-2002.
• Agricultural trade The Harmonized System Code
  has been adopting instead of Tariff Code
• New groups of items have been added in trade
  domain Raw, process, food and animals, nonfood.
• new look of the SAD Home page.
• 1000 CDROMS have been produced with a new cover
  design

  collections as follows

Each Data Collection Refers to 4 Main Types of
Variables

• Area The area where the data has been collected.
  
• Item The agricultural or economic item to which
  the data refer.
• Element The name of the unit of the element
  (e.g. "Production", "Cultivation area", "Yield").
  
• Year The time reference of the data
