Business drivers
  • An area of skills in the complex industries and
    with high
  • safety risks are the competencies in Working at
    Heights,
  • Working in Confined Space, and SCBA/Longline.
  • Currently these courses are labour intensive, and
there are many hours needed to provide face to
    face programs
  • No real tools for use in RPL within or across
    sites, or companies
  • No tools for development of underpinning
knowledge/cognitive skills or a system that
    identifies the need for refreshment.
  • Each site let alone business has different
courses, with different content, that are
delivered to meet these skills needs over
    different periods of timeno consistency.

The future of e-learning in this industry
  • In a time of massive skills shortages in the
complex industries, we have to think of smarter
solutions to meet the many training demands of
    industry.
  • Traditional face to face training is a luxury
that industry wont be able to always afford.
  • Blended e-learning models are the way of the
future, as they can satisfy many of the diverse
requirements of the both the learner and the
employer in a flexible, time efficient manner.
