6SELECTED LESSONS LEARNED FROM OUR SIG EVALUATION
- It is difficult to gauge improvement at the
individual level for universal programs - Most individual level change is seen for
participants who are older or at high risk - Given enough resources, communities can build the
necessary infrastructure to implement
evidence-based prevention strategies and make a
difference at the local level in a relatively
short amount of time
7WYOMINGS SPF SIG
- Targets the misuse of alcohol
- Underage drinking adult binge drinking
- Alcohol-related crime
- Alcohol-related motor vehicle crashes
- Alcohol dependence abuse
- 24 grantee communities
- 23 counties 1 reservation
- Equity model
- A single evaluator

17DO WE DO ANY SCIENCE IN WYOMING?
- State Level
- Comparison states based upon similar baseline
outcomes, demographics, geographic proximity -
- Community Level
- Dependent variables are outcomes (for example,
30-day use of alcohol) - Independent variables are fidelity scores
18LESSONS LEARNED SO FAR
- It has been nearly three years, when do we get to
evaluate something? - Borrow and learn as much as possible from the
cross-site evaluators and other states - What we are really evaluating is the Strategic
Prevention Framework - Thank goodness we are in Cohort I
