Information Literacy

• Information literacy is when a person recognizes
  information is needed and has the ability the
  ability to locate, evaluate, and use the needed
  information effectively. (ALA, 1989)

Services Study Finds Chronicle of Higher
Education

• ETS finds students cant retrieve, analyze, and
  communicate information
• 13 were found information literate according to
  Information and Communication Technology
  Assessment
• Concerns students failed to recognize bias,
  advertising, authority, and relevance

• The library is the best place to conduct
  research.
• Collaboration doesnt usually take much time to
  accomplish.
• Parents are part of the process.

• Sit down with your librarian and find out the
  state of information and media literacy in your
  building
• Develop a collaborative relationship with the
  librarian in your building
• Know what resources your students are using
