• FAFSA Stands for
• Free Application for Federal Student Aid
• You are applying for a PELL Grant (08-09 up to
  5,300) as well as supplying information to
  determine eligibility for other federal aid
  programs with this application.
• FAFSA simplified from last year
• 22 less questions
• 17 web screens eliminated
• Only use information from 1040 form

FAFSA Application Process

• Find out what the college financial aid deadlines
  are
• You and a parent should apply for a PIN if you
  will be doing the FAFSA on the web
• (you can apply for a PIN before Jan. 1st)
• January 1 or later fill out the FAFSA on the web
  or do a paper application
• Do the TAP application from the FAFSA online
  application (discussed further, later)

• Receive your SAR from the processing center by
  email if an email was provided or on paper if
  there is no email address
• Check your SAR for errors and correct all
• You will receive a financial aid package from the
  colleges you have applied to. Use this
  information to decide which colleges you can
  afford to attend, decide which college you will
  attend, they sign and return the required
  paperwork from the college. You should let other
  colleges know that you will not be attending
  their college.

TAP Application Process

• ELECTRONICALLY
• Click on link from FAFSA online application
• You will be prompted to get a HescPIN
• This will be used to sign your electronic TAP
  application
• Communications will be by email
• PAPER
• If you apply for federal financial aid (PELL)
  with a paper application and to dont put an
  email address on it, a paper TAP application will
  be generated and mailed to you.
