2- Reorganization
- part of Force Readiness Command (FORCECOM)
- Vision
- Ensure Coast Guard is fully prepared
to execute assigned missions - Exercised
- Resourced
- Ready to meet present and future needs
- Adapt to leverage Coast Guard capacities
- Flexible to leverage Coast Guard capacities

3ADL as a tool for readiness
USCG Populations served Civilian
7,400 Active Duty 41,000 Reserve
11,000 Auxiliary 28,500
What approaches to ADL are required to develop
and report readiness with advanced distributed
learning? Strong emphasis in CG-132 on human
performance (not training)

4Coast Guard ADL initiatives in service of
readiness
- LMS requirements
- Develop readiness
- report readiness
- Exercised
- Resourced
- Ready to meet present and future needs
- Adapt to leverage Coast Guard capacities
- Flexible to leverage Coast Guard capacities
Readiness-Human Performance-ADL
5Coast Guard ADL initiatives serving readiness
- Maritime Simulation Recapitalization
- Suite from desktop to full-mission
- Results to LMS
- Verification, Validation, Accreditation based in
human performance rather than fidelity
Readiness-Human Performance-ADL
6Coast Guard ADL initiatives serving readiness
- Learning Object Development
- Grounded in performance
- Performance-based testing
- Knowledge tests dont cut it
- Time/accuracy/smooth running
- Emphasis on EPSSs to better support performance
Readiness-Human Performance-ADL
7Readiness SCORM
- SCORM basis business of training human
performance support (initial concept did!) - Can be changed to better support human
performance and learning - SCOs calling other SCOs(EPSS in a course) some
training systems do this. Why cant SCORM? - SCORM conf. LMSs hardwired to accept just one SCO
for a course- no flexibility
