Air Trainer 1987-. Summer of 87, Run-DMC and
the Beastie Boys on the Together Forever tourI
get introduced to The Doors, KRS One, and I wear
out my Eric B. and Rakim Paid in Full tapeThank
God for CDsFirst summer of driving, which allows
you to go wherever you need to go. How
symbolic Little did I know that Summer of 87
was really the beginning of it all. My Pops gives
me an ad for the Air Trainer from Runners World.
A weird shoe that one can wear on all courts.
One shoe to do it all, you can do everything in
these, he said. How true. This was the shoe I
balled with on the asphalt in the 98 degree
North Carolina heat, the court shoe that could I
finally wear on a clay court without someone
screaming at me, the shoe that I would
incessantly wear through four pairs of during
H.S, the shoe that I saw Chris Mullin ball in,
the shoe that I ran my first 5K in. The shoe that
Johnny Mac held court in. The shoe that
represented one can truly be a Lizard Kinga
world where you can change into anything and the
possibilities are endlessThis place is
everything, cmon I show you.God I love this
shoe

Nike Hurache International- Pretty symbolic for
me to rock a shoe during my graduation year from
UNC-Chapel Hill that was named after an American
Indian sandal and colored in red, white, and
blue. These shoes provided me with a definite
lesson in heritage. When you graduate from
school, you get a pretty good chance to find out
how long you have come, and how long you have to
go. After graduating from UNC-Chapel Hill in 94,
I went to work in my familys business in these
shoes, and learned how to sell from the people
that were involved in my life from the ground up.
The mentors that I grew up with were
salespeople, and those mentors were the people
that I was involved with every day throughout my
youth. I learned the beauty of life that can be
achieved through constant interaction and
communication, which in my opinion are the two
facets of relationship selling and marketing
partnerships. After that graduation, I learned
that I had to walk in my own shoes. Over the next
two years, I ended up moving to my hometown of
Greensboro, NC to work at my fathers
headquarters, then moved to Savannah to start up
a new branch for the company, and then sold
materials handling equipment at his branch in
Charleston, SC. I also ended up running the
Chicago Marathon in these exact shoes, which were
the perfect shoes for me to use for my foundation
of a life that is in constant relationship.
51995-1999
Air Max 95- Long runner, what you are you
standing there for? Get up! Get up! These
caught me by surprise. When I got them, I was
living in Savannah, GA, and training for my first
marathon while working for my familys business,
Dougherty Equipment. When I was visiting the
NikeTown Chicago in 95, I snatched the AirMax up
in a heart beat with the accolade of the first
customer to buy them in Chicago. Little did I
know that the city that I was born in would
launch me through the next period of my life with
a pair of shoes to travel the U.S. in. I moved
to San Francisco in these shoes, and managed the
Western region for Yale Materials Handling/NAACO,
while promoting aftermarket retail parts sales
for over 30 locations in 23 states. I increased
sales over 90 in a two year period and I trained
Aftermarket Sales forces on a newly introduced
interactive Parts System, which has software that
remains the spine of the system today. I
traveled to 45 states while wearing these shoes
over a three year period at Yale Materials
Handling/NAACO...Got to see a ton of the U.S.,
and was able to study the people and the regions
of the country., which remains invaluable to me
today. I truly understand what Bill Bradley, as
a New York Knick, was detailing about our country
in Life on the Run. These shoes are now
permanently retired. I wore them a short time in
1999, but theyve attained legendary status in my
family in 98 after a Japanese thrift shop owner
in Seattle offered me 1200 for them because of a
serial number etched into the tag on the back of
the tongue. Couldnt do it.Couldnt do itThose
shoes I bought in 95 were molded for me to travel

Jordan XVI Mocs-Brought out in 2000. The moment
that you put yourself at total risk, you will
transform Mos Defs album was out. I felt it,
and after a early Spring visit to NikeTown in
Chicago, I had to do it. Everyone has their
gamers. For the big pitches of eGroups, I had
to rock the Jordan XVI MocsSomething clicked.,
and by the end of the summer, I was rocking them
for every major callAfter establishing the first
Midwestern presence for eGroups, which was bought
out by Yahoo!, I built relationships and secured
advertising campaigns for eGroups from Sears,
Gatorade, Fallon, FCB, Tower Records, and Starcom
IP. In my XVI Mocs, I sold a TRL online
convergent media Sweepstakes campaign for MTVs
most highly rated show, Total Request Live
(TRL) to Fallon Minneapolis for PBSs debut of
American High, which was the largest online
media buy in the Midwest for April, 2001. No lie,
they were a great door-opening conversation piece
for those negotiations in Minneapolis. I knew I
was on, when one of the Shaolin Warriors
performing in San Francisco asked me where I got
them. But replaced by the Jordan Cavis in 2002.
The luck transferred over to the Cavis, which was
shown through my establishment of AOL Time
Warners first presence for introducing
cross-platform marketing strategies to the Bay
Area and Northern California retail vertical
markets. I also presented AOL Time Warners
cross-platform strategies to major Northern
California targeted retail clients such as Tower
Records, Nextel, Macys, The GAP, and Longs
Drugs in the Cavis. How big of fan of the Cavis
am I? If were in the same work setting
together, and youve read this, look down at my
feet.Yeah, my Jordans are tight.
7And four for the road.
Not Pictured Nike Humara and the Nike Deschutz
Sandal
I wanted to throw in some of my all-time
favorites. My most recent additions the R4 Shox
helped me pedal a summer as a bike messenger for
the summer of 2001VELO!Due to the donation of
some retired shoes for the Nike Retread a Court
program at NikeTown in San Francisco, I couldnt
