  • What you need to know as a tutor

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Commit to one semester of service
  • Absences
  • At most 3 from scheduled tutoring
  • At most 1 from monthly meetings
  • Communication
  • If absent, contact teacher beforehand by email
    (CC to kernodle_at_elon.edu) and call school day of.
  • Let carpool members know day before so that other
    arrangements can be made.

  • Talk with your teacherlet them know how things
    are going and ask for feedback
  • Let coordinators know if you are having any
    problems

  • In your handbook are our current hours
  • Our hours are posted on Blackboard and any
    changes or updates will be posted there.
  • If we make changes, we will also post an
    announcement so you will know there is a change.

  • Turn in by deadline (First of each month)

  • 15th of the month
  • All paperwork has to be filled out before you
    will receive a paycheck

    do it through Anna Lisa or Kristin.
  • You are responsible for communicating Elons
    breaks to your teacher, as well as being informed
    of your classs schedule.

  • Be on time (to leave for school and from school)

  • Teachers should provide work
  • If you want to work out your own lessons, clear
    with teachers first. You are expected to provide
    materials for these lessons unless teachers offer
    materials.
  • Teacher Communication
  • Let your teacher know if youre having problems,
    ask for suggestions, give them feedback for your
    sessions.

  • Respectful attitude
  • Positive attitude
  • REMEMBER! You are there to encourage these
    students to achieve in math and reading skills.
    Everything you do in the classroom should reflect
    this goal.

Tutor Contract
  • Because we desire commitment from you as tutors,
    we have a document outlining the policies and
    procedures. We would like you to read over the
    information and sign this as your work contract
    with us.

Name Tags, Schedules, Carpool
  • At this time, we will hand out your name tags,
    schedules, and carpools (if applicable) to you.
    Please remember to wear your name tag to each
    tutoring session.
  • We will also e-mail a copy of the schedule and
    carpool information, as well as put it on
    Blackboard.
