Evaluate
Make judgments and form opinion about what you
have read. Develop your own ideas about
characters, events, and the text itself.

• Drawing a conclusion about a character or the
  author with the help of context clues.

Assimilate

• Combining new information from the text with
  information you already had/knew.

Analyze

• Breaking a piece of literature apart, dissecting
  it, to see how it works. Studying a single piece
  of the story, such as character.

Cause and Effect

• Determine the relationship between events in the
  piece of literature and the consequences faced by
  the characters.

Compare/Contrast

• Find similarities (compare) and/or differences
  (contrast) between the text and another text or
  between the text and real life.

Determining Theme

• Discovering the main idea, purpose or message
  behind a text.

• Taking information from various texts and
  combining them to establish an overall theme or
