12Course Description Coral Reef Ecology is a
composite of two courses the Ecology of Coral
Reefs (MSCI /BIOL 477, 3 credits) and either
Directed Undergraduate Research (MSCI 499, 3
credits) or Senior Thesis (MSCI 498, 3 credits).
Prerequisites permission of instructor.
Coral Reef Ecology lecture is an introduction to
the principles of organization, structure,
function, productivity and diversity of coral
reef ecosystems. The research component consists
of each individual students project and is
designed before the trip and completed in Jamaica.

Total cost of about 3800/student includes All
transportation, Room and board, Tuition (all
in-state) Fees do not include SCUBA and
snorkeling gear, SCUBA Certification (not
required for snorkeling), Special food, medicine
or spending money, Insurance (DAN

minimum number of students to be a viable
offering. Places in the class are limited and
are reserved by a deposit on a first come first
