• In June 1968 the Glomar Challenger set sail in
  understanding critical geoscience issues
• In 1983 the Glomar was retired, the Ocean
  Drilling Program name was adopted, and science
  operations were moved to Texas AM University

  the United States continues to lead this
  international scientific partnership

The Role of the International Program Enhancement
and Coordination Committee (IPECC)

• IPECC meets monthly to provide the University
  with an institutional means for regular,
  systematic information exchange and coordinated
  planning among all units on campus concerned with
  international programs. The role of IPECC is to
• advise the International Programs Office on
  program development
• recommend policies and guidelines on
  international matters
• plan and coordinate international activities and
• promote international awareness
