Marshall Magnet Arts Program
  • The mission of the Marshall Magnet Arts Program
    is to promote the artistic, academic and
    individual development of all Marshall students.

  • Suzuki Violin Grades K through 2

Suzuki Violin Grades K 2
  • All students participate in two 30 minute Suzuki
    Violin Lessons per week.
  • Instruments are provided for student use.
  • Students are taught by professional and
    supervised in-training Suzuki instructors.

Dance
  • All students in Grade 3 participate
  • in a 40 minute dance lesson per week provided by
    Professional Dance Instructor Sergio Padilla
  • Focus Ballet Folklorico

Artists in Residence
  • Artist in Residence programs are offered to
    Grades 4-6. These residencies include visual and
    performing arts and are often integrated into
    other areas of the curriculum.
  • Last year, Grade 4 students worked with local
    artists using technology and writing to
    illustrate a story using computer graphics. The
    5th Grade worked with a local artist to create
    masks and use them in play performances. The 6th
    Grade created a large mural that has been placed
    front of the school!

Opera/Theater
  • Grade 5 Students participate in an opera unit
    that includes mentoring from the Director of NAU
    Opera and performances by NAU singers.
  • Grades 4-6 attend one opera performance per year,
    this past year attending Handels Xerses.

General Music
  • Every student takes part in a 35 minute music
    class once a week. Student learning includes
    music fundamentals, rhythm, notation, classroom
    instruments, singing, and music history. Lessons
    are often integrated with classroom learning in
    other academic areas.
  • Band and Strings are also offered for Grades 5
    and 6.

Art
  • All students experience 40 minutes of visual art
    lessons each week. This is a hands on program
    where students create works of art in various
    media through out the year. Art projects are also
    integrated with classroom units.
