Educational requirements in schools today are
much different than in past yearsand are still
changing rapidly
3
According to former U.S. Secretary of Education
Richard Riley,
  • The top 10 jobs that will be in demand in 2010
did not even exist in 2004
  • We are currently preparing students for jobs that
  • dont yet exist
  • will require the use of technologies
that have not yet been invented and
  • will require solving problems that we
dont even know are problems yet!

  • Lake County School Lunch Breakfast Program
  • For busy working parents the school lunch can
    deliver a two fold bargain
  • School meals are low cost. The average lunch
price is 1.75 which includes milk, meat or meat
alternate, bread and a choice of two fruits or
two vegetables or one fruit and one vegetable.
  • School meals are healthy. Our school lunches
meet federal guidelines of no more than 30
calories from fat and less than 10 from
saturated fat and provide one-third of the
    Recommended Dietary Allowances of protein,
Vitamin A, Vitamin C, iron, calcium, and
calories. No super-sizing here. The meals
served are provided in age-appropriate serving
sizes, which makes our lunches one of the last
places in the U.S. where you can purchase a meal
    with the recommended serving sizes!
  • BREAKFAST
  • With school board approval, free breakfast for
all elementary school students was started in
August to help teach students the importance of
starting their day off right with a nutritious
breakfast. We serve breakfast to approximately
    49 of our students.
  • LUNCH
  • Approximately 90 of our students eat lunch at
school. This is about 800 lunches per day.
  • Overall, last year we served 71,832 breakfasts
    and 141,135 lunches.
  • Approximately 76 of our students are on Free
    or Reduced Meal Benefits.
  • Menus are in the Lake County Banner and posted on
    our website at http//www.lake.k12.tn.us
