5Ready, Set, Review
- So, what should we see in an effective
mathematics classroom?
- A deliberate and carefully planned reliance on
ongoing, cumulative review of key skills and
concepts
- Using cumulative review to keep skills and
understandings fresh, reinforce previously taught
material, and give students a change to clarify
their understandings.
6MEMORY RETENTION
Long term memory
Regular review develops and maintains long-term
memory.
MEMORY RETENTION
Without regular review or practice, long-term
memory is not developed.
TIME
7OUR PROGRAMS provide regular review to maintain
memory of basic mathematical skills and concepts
for Grades 1-10. They are
- comprehensive
- systematic
- user-friendly
- affordable
8Components of MATHS MATE PROGRAM Grades 5-10
9Each week students do problems that cover a range
of skills and concepts.
10 systematic
- One sheet goes home each week with other assigned
homework. -
- Students bring their completed worksheets to
class. - The teacher calls the answers from the Teacher
Manual and students mark their own work. - Students fill in the number of correct problems
on the bottom of the sheet. -

11Tracking is a powerful tool.
- Students transfer weekly results from the
worksheet to the quarterly Tracking Sheet. - Identified gaps are addressed with the
appropriate online Skill Builders.

-
- 100 aligned with Common Core teaching
- do NOT interfere with planned lessons.
- come ready to use and requires minimal class or
teacher prep time. - provide the opportunity for students to
self-correct and track their results. - have a diagnostic component.
-
31Response to Intervention
- Our programs are used both at Tier 1 to
supplement the core instructional mathematics
curriculum and Tier 2 with follow-up Skill
Builders.
- Using the programs ensure that more students are
able to meet grade level norms without additional
assistance because of the comprehensive,
systematic review of essential basic skills and
concepts.
- The weekly tracking provides frequent progress
monitoring, thus identifying which students need
additional instruction and review. This review
is done with the Skill Builders.
