• To be aware of the ICT room rules.
• To understand the ICT usage policy.
• To be able to log-on to your computer.

ICT Room Rules Starter

• Work in pairs (talk in partner-voices that
  means only the person next to you should hear you
  speak).
• Think about the rules we should have in our ICT
  room.
• Write them down and be prepared to share them
  with the rest of the class.

• What should we do if someone does not follow our
  rules?

ICT Usage Policy Activity

• Guidelines on what you should and should not do
  on the St Josephs computer network and website.
• Turn to page 7 in you student planners.
• Read through the policy.

Logging on Username

• Your username is made up of
• The first letter of your first name
• AND
• Your whole surname
• E.g. Joseph Bloggs would be jbloggs
• Type your username into the firstbox on the
  computer and WAIT some may be different because
  someone else already has a similar name to you!

Logging on Password

• Your password is
• pass
• Type it in the box below the username and click
  on Log on or press the Enter key on your
  keyboard.

Choosing a new password

• Passwords should
• be easy to remember
• be longer than 3 characters, e.g. hi is too
  short, but hello would be OK.
• not be easy to guess by your best mate
• be changed if you suspect anyone else knows your
  password

Changing your password

• To change your password hold down the following
  keys together
• Ctrl Alt Delete
• Click on Change my password
• You will need to type in your old password (pass)
  and then enter your new password twice below.
• REMEMBER Your password should be easy to
  remember, but not easy to guess!

Logging off the computer

• Click on the Start button in the bottom left of
  the screen.
