2MISSION STATEMENT
- The mission of the College of Science and
Mathematics is to advance the concepts of science
and mathematics necessary to meet the scientific
and technological demands of the modern world in
the context of a liberal arts education.

- To awaken intellectual curiosity and to encourage
habits of logical analysis, sound judgment, and
critical thinking through scientific
experimentation and problem solving.

- Reflect on your best work in your major courses
and your growth as a learner in that discipline. - Try not to repeat material when you complete the
following activities. - Students who completed a portion of their major
at another institution may use examples from
course work taken there.

- Identify one concept or process in your
discipline that you understand well as the result
of course work in your major. - Describe the process you used to discover and
understand this concept or process. - What difficulty did you have at the beginning?
Were there any barriers to your complete
understanding? - What helped you along the way? What finally
helped you master the concept or process?

- Identify one group project in your major on which
you are proud to have worked and the rationale
for your choice. - What concept did you learn or understand better
from having completed this project? - Also describe any technology or other materials
used for the completion of this project.
