Reading

• Reading is the process of making meaning of text.
  Students must be able to demonstrate their
  comprehension, their ability to analyze, and
  their critical thinking related to written text.

• The 10th grade WASL has 37 items distributed
  between the 20 literary and informational reading
  targets.

Reading Collection of Evidence

• Guidelines for assembling a sufficient COE
• The collection must include
• At least 8 and no more than 12 work samples that
• Include at least four work samples each of which
  can be scored for more than one literary strand.
• Include at least four work samples each of which
  can be scored for more than one informational
  strand.

• Characteristics of the 8-12 work samples

• Must include students description of the
  assigned text.
• Must include work samples that include text-based
  evidence.
• Must include an copy of the teachers assignment

• Each work sample must address at least two
  strands. A work sample that does not address two
  strands will be considered insufficient.

• Work that has not been produced by the student.
