Every successful in-store logistics operation
starts with a set of goals that contribute to the
store objectives. Doing this makes it possible
to see where you are, where you want to be and
create an action plan on how to get there.
- The goals needs to be
- related to the country and store Businessplan
- adapted to the local store conditions

Develop an In-store Logistics organisation based
on knowledge and competence
Management require an understanding of what
shall be done, when it shall be done, how it
shall be done. Then we could start evaluating the
present situation, focus on the recruitment
process and train the new logistics managers,
specialists and co-workers within the IKEA
store. This is essential for every department in
the IKEA store.

6step 3
Create a balance between the Space to range
relation
Get the balance right between the space and the
range, and make the most of existing space. This
is the foundation of effective logistics
operation in the IKEA store
- You need this, to get
- The ordering to work in the right way
- Well-dimensioned sales spaces
- The refilling to work effectively
- An efficient goods flow process
- Enough space to present and communicate the
products
7step 3
Creat a balance between the Space to range
relation
A range size that is well adapted to the capacity
of the store, enables the store to work rational,
efficient, and always have the sales spaces
filled.
8step 4
Place rational and correct orders
Efficient use of ordering systems and the
competence in the goods flow administration will
end up in store achieving the required service
level.
Ordering the right quantity is important to get
the "door-to-floor" to work. If you order too
much it will create buffer stock and if we order
less then needed the sales space will be empty.
9step 5
Sales Space management
If we have correctly dimensioned sales spaces we
will get a high service level to a low cost.
The Commersial Team is responsible to have the
right balance between Product dominance, Range
presentation and Sales space. Incorrectly
dimensioned sales spaces creating unnecessary
handlings or empty looking sales spaces.
10step 6
Establish routines for the most Efficient goods
flow
Each sales space shall be refilled before the
store opens.
Fully stocked sales spaces is the best service
that the IKEA store can provide its customers.
This will creates a commercial atmosphere in the
store.
