2Did you know that many everyday food products
contain additives that are proven to cause
hyperactivity in children?
3Products such as these.
4And these
5And these..
6These too.
7And many more products which our kids are eating
everyday.
8In September 2007, studies from the University of
Southampton UK confirmed that these 6 colours
could cause hyperactivity in children. http//ww

9As a result of this research, these 6 colours
are now being removed from ALL foods in the UK by
the end of 2009. Why aren't Australian kids
being given the same level of protection?
10These 6 colours are already banned in many other
countries due to serious safety concerns, yet we
still use them here.

12The Kids First Campaign is our major lobbying
action for 2008 and has been staged as a joint
initiative between Additive Alert, The Food
Intolerance Network and Additive Education.
This high profile media campaign is backed by
an online public petition to FSANZ calling for
them to put Australian Kids First and follow the
lead of the UK and act to remove these colours
from our foods.
This campaign will not only serve to raise
consumer awareness about the effects of these
food additives we hope it will result in
legislative change allowing for their removal
from Australian foods within the next 2 years.

Additive Alert was founded in 2004 by consumer
advocate Julie Eady following the publication of
her bestselling book
Additive Alert Your Guide to Safer Shopping.
With a growing membership of over 10,000 people
Australia-wide, Additive Alert lobbies
manufacturers and government to adopt a
precautionary approach and avoid the use of
harmful food additives in our foods. In March
2007 Julie was awarded the Western Australian
Consumer Protection Award in recognition of the
value that her work as a consumer advocate has
delivered to the community, especially children.
