- The global corporation has the firm vision
for their business in the world. As the global
steel maker, what is the POSCOs vision? Could
you describe about that?
We pursue three fundamental visions. First
thing is the high standard of Ethics Management.
Secondly, we chose valuing creativity within our
organization and society. And, Last vision is a
commitment to morality. We will contribute to
the well being of our society and our customers,
by enhancing the quality of our products and
services through the application of our vision
statement.

- I was told Koreas leading company,
Samsung has an very excellent employee well
being system for them, which supports like their
housing, children education, leisure, health care
and so on. What is the POSCOs well being system
for the employees compared to Samsung?
A
Ok Of course, we also are exercising
various well being programs in order for all the
members of organization to enjoy a more affluent
and stable life along with the growth of POSCO.
For the maintenance of health and the prevention
of diseases among staffs, POSCO has been
exercising the minute medical examination
periodically and is positively supporting the
activities of associations of like-minded persons
in the company for the healthy life styles and
the promotion of camaraderie.Also, in order to
provide the opportunities for sound leisure and
recreation activities of staffs and their
families, POSCO has been purchasing outside
company resort facilities (condominiums) in large
quantity since July 1997, and it has been
assisting the staffs to use them since July 1997.

- I guess POSCO has a global network around
the world for the global business. Do you have
overseas offices? If you have. I would like you
to explain about that.
Yes, We need to and have to do that. We
have global network around the world for the
global business. We intend to continue our growth
and actively engage the international market. I
would say there is an office in GERMANY, U.A.E,
INDIA, VIETNAM, SINGAPORE, U.S, MEXICO, BRASIL.
They have very important part for the overseas
market.

- I was told POSCO operates with innovative
strategy to compete with arcelor, ??? ??, ????.
What is the most biggest and innovative strategy
to have differences in the global market?
Yes, As you said, we have very huge
competitor in the market. So we are trying to be
the best all the time and satisfy the customers
for their own business. We have innovative
strategy called Six Sigma. Let me explain
about. POSCO's Six Sigma allows us to compete in
the global market and respond to changes in that
external environment, by increasing efficiency
within our own organization. POSCOs Six Sigma is
not just a one-time campaign or a plausible
blueprint, it is an earnest and systematic
program created and implemented to increase
awareness and positive attitudes within the
organization.

- POSCO has lots of subsidiaries like
POSTEEL, POSTDATA, POSCON. Which of the companies
is the most main subsidiary of POSCO? And Which
products do they treat for their business?
Lastly, how much net profit did POSCO make last
quarter?
I would say POSTEEL IS THE BIGGEST
SUBSIDIARY OF OURS. As you can imagine steel is
the main trade item. But for the specific things,
rolled coll, steel plate, cold rolled steel,
galvanized steel, electrical steel, electro G.I,
Tin plate, Stainless Steel, and Wire rod are also
the trade items. And for the second question, I
was told net income of POSCO reached 1.38
trillion won in the first quarter of 2005.

- As you know, employee is the most valuable
corporate asset. I want to hear about POSCOS
recruit aspect.
Exactly. I totally agree with you.
Employee is the most valuable asset for doing
business. POSCO values and actualizes human
respect. We want like this people, who can
satisfy these ones. First thing is the
professionalism. We aim to develop professionals
who pursue excellence responsibly, with dignity
and a sense of pride. Second thing is the global
body Employees. We aim to build a competent body
of employees that possess a global mindset. It
will be composed of individuals who are open to
challenges, have excellent foreign-language
skills, and are prepared to deal with the unique
environment presented by a global operation.
And lastly, I would say Digital workforce. We aim
to build a creative and digital-savvy workforce,
composed of individuals who can collect
information from a wide range of sources, and
apply it to a global and highly-informed
community with excellent IT skills.
