- FP6 BIGPOWER SSA PROJECT
- BIOGASTECH WORKSHOP
- 9-11th APRIL 2008 GEBZE TURKEY
2OBJECTIVES
- To design a new lab-scale downdraft fixed bed
gasifier - To examine operation of new lab-scale downdraft
fixed bed gasifier - To collect data from the experimental system
- To observe the effect of operation parameters (ER
and fuel type (woodchips and hazelnut shells)) on
gas composition and heating value

16CONCLUSIONS
- A 10 kg capacity of laboratory scale fixed bed
downdraft gasifier is designed and manufactured
for different type of biomass fuels. - A suitable gas cleaning system is chosen and
implemented to the gasifier exit. A biggest
portion of gas is directly send to the flare,
rest of the gas is sent to the suitable gas
cleaning system for gas analyzing. - The composition of gas is analyzed by an online
gas analyzer after the suitable gas cleaning
system. - During the tests period, approximately 1 hour
continuous operation is obtained for 10 kg of
biomass fuels. - Gasifier works very well with woodchips and
hazelnut shells - No ash agglomeration is observed in the reactor
- Tests are done with any blockage in the throat
region. - Around 24 CO and 14 H2 is produced
successfully, The lower heating value of the gas
is calculated as 5,3 MJ/Nm3. - The temperature of the throat is obtained above
1000 oC as expected.
