Designs of Nuclear Bombs

• When building a nuclear bomb you need
• Fissionable or fusionable fuel
• Triggering device
• A way for the fuel to fission or fuse before the
  explosion

Fission

• Fission uses Uranium 235 or Plutonium 239.
  Fission splits the nucleus of an atom into
  smaller fragments with a neutron. More neutrons
  get thrown off the atom. This causes a chain
  reaction among the other atoms. Fission omits
  gamma rays.

Fusion

• Fusion brings two smaller atoms together,
  deuterium and tritium. These together changes
  hydrogen to helium.

• At the explosion everything is vaporized.
