The brainstem will be a very important structure
for our purposes. Both cortical and deep
cerebral nuclei discussed in previous slides all
send axons through the brainstem. In addition,
the cranial nerve nuclei reside in the brainstem,
as we shall see.

in the midbrain, as are the red nucleus and the
substantia nigra (which well learn in the
context of Parkinsons disease).
