Swim Course Safety PlanFoster Arend Park

• Swimmers will be placed in waves of 30 at a time
  with waves starting every 5 minutes.
• Each wave will have a unique swim cap color
• A count of swimmers will be kept on the water and
  coordinated with the time keeper for
  verification.
• Additional verification will be coordinated with
  the Transition Area Coordinator (Bike racks are
  set up by wave color) Note if the bike is still
  on the rack, then the participant is on the swim
  course.
• 10 Lifeguards in Kayaks (USAT Mandates 1
  lifeguard/50 participants)
• 3 Rescue Diver Boats on Course (1 Sheriff 2
  Fire Department)
• Swimmer trouble signal covered in safety briefing
• Several buoys in place that swimmers can hold
  onto without penalty
• Swimmers may hold onto the stationary watercraft
  without penalty
• Swimmers needing help to the shore will be
  disqualified from the race
• All swimmers are required to have swim caps with
  their race number written on them (provided in
  packet)
• Swimmers will be allowed to wear wetsuits in
  accordance with USAT rules
